Winner in wide Democratic field will face incumbent Hultgren Nov. 6
BATAVIA – Six of the seven candidates in the March 20 Democratic primary all said they would be one to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Plano, in the Nov. 6 general election.
The candidates spoke for more than an hour at a Kane County League of Women Voters forum Feb. 22 held before a crowd at Batavia City Hall.
Participants were Matt Brolley, an engineer and village president of Montgomery; John Hosta, a Spring Grove resident who does stock trading for private accounts; Volo resident Daniel Roldán-Johnson is a middle school teacher; Victor Swanson of Batavia is a teacher; Naperville resident Lauren Underwood is a nurse; and George Weber of Lakewood is a retired chemical engineer.
A sixth candidate, Gurnee resident Jim Walz, could not attend. Walz won the nomination two years ago but was defeated by Hultgren.
