The Vikings knew they were ripe for a repeat. Whitley, with her improved shooting release, blazed ahead.
Geneva, as a town, rallied behind.
The Vikings lost only three times – once to Montini in a two-point loss. Geneva avenged that defeat, as Hart broke the Lady Broncos' heart with her second-consecutive game-winning shot in the state title game.
Whitley led the team in scoring with 13 points per game while averaging 3.6 assists and nearly three rebounds. A 42 percent three point shooter this season, Whitley dazzled en route to a state three point contest victory.
"There's not a town [in terms of] support and the community like there is in Geneva," Whitley said. "Especially for basketball...Without the support that we had, it wouldn't be as fun, and we wouldn't be successful, either."
