GENEVA – Springtime is for new beginnings, and for four downtown Geneva businesses, it’s also a time for a new awakening.

Called Holistic Spring Awakening, the event was created by Yellow Aura Yoga owner Heather Kellogg, Bridget Peterson of Green Envee and Ashlee Tyberg of DragonFly Home.

Holistic Spring Awakening is from 2 to 4 p.m. March 24 at the Yellow Aura Yoga studio, 27 N. Second St., Unit 101, Geneva, and costs $40 per person, Kellogg said.

“We are giving a chance for people to brush off the stagnant energy from winter,” Kellogg said. “During the winter, there is a lack of movement and people tend to be sluggish. They’re not moving their bodies, and they are in hibernation in their house.”

Kellogg said the yoga portion will introduce movement back into the body, especially poses that help with draining sinuses and alleviating tension or headaches.

“Any symptoms that go with seasonal allergies,” Kellogg said. “These are poses that help with drainage when the head or ears are clogged up.”

Green Envee will be introducing essential oils to be applied directly to the skin, such as lavender, peppermint and lemon, she said.

Green Gypsy Juice will offer small servings of a variety of juices, Kellogg said.

DragonFly Home is a local cleaning company that uses blends of essential oils so a house can be cleaned without artificial or harmful chemicals, Kellogg said.

“They use a lot of vinegar for floors and cleaning sprays [made] with witch hazel and essential oils,” Kellogg said. “They will teach people how to make natural home cleaning products.”

Participants also will receive sample products to take home, she said.

Kellogg said she and Peterson were working together to think of a winter event.

“But winter got busy and then it was spring,” Kellogg said. “And then we brought Ashley and Green Gypsy Juice into it and the more we were talking, the more we go hand-in-hand together.”

Green Gypsy Juice is within Moveable Feast, 321 Franklin St.; DragonFly Cleaning is a home-based business; and Green Envee is at 17 S. Third St., all in Geneva.
