Noland wins Democratic primary for judge
In the Republican primary race for Kane County Judge, 50 votes separates Tom Hartwell from Elizabeth Flood, according to unofficial totals.
But election officials said there are 251 mailed or absentee ballots still not received, and thus not counted, which could change the outcome.
Kane County Supervisor of Elections Raymond Esquivel election said there are 98 absentee – now called vote by mail – ballots that still have not been received.
“We have to wait 14 days,” Esquivel said. “April 3 is the last day we can count them.”
The mailed ballots must be postmarked March 20 in order to be counted, Esquivel said.
Aurora Election Commission Executive Director Linda Fechner said they have 153 mailed ballots that have not been returned.
Fechner said her office was also dealing with 33 provisional ballots – which means those voters have until March 27 to provide proper identification in order for their votes to be counted.
