Do you have unwanted items in your basement? Does your garage resemble a retail bike shop? Is the pile of haven’t-been-worn-in-years clothes taking over your closet? A yes to any of these questions should count as a red flag to have a garage sale, and soon.
Lucky for you, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce is hosting a City-Wide Garage Sale on April 27 and 28. We will do all the advertising, marketing, signage and even distribute a map with participating addresses highlighted. You keep all of your profits. There are still five days left to get in on the early bird pricing of just $25. Register online or download the form at genevachamber.com.
Although we are in a nonfestival time here at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, we are always in the midst of planning. Swedish Days, which will be held from June 19 to 24, is the first festival we produce each year and only 10 short weeks away. Pre-planning for an event that draws more than 200,000 people is intense and we need your help.
Consider volunteering this year. If interested, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Would your organization like to be in the Grand Parade or bring in a float? If so, download an application at genevachamber.com/swedish_days.php. Want to take part in our 5K? The Swedish Days Lopp 5K’s registration is up and running. You can find the link at www.genevachamber.com/swedish_days.php.
Swedish Days will be six days of fun, with a couple of surprises popping up, so mark the dates on your calendar.
Finally, can you dance, do magic or carry a tune? How about juggle or make balloon animals. Then the Geneva Park District is looking for you. If you have a talent of any kind, apply to audition for Geneva’s Got Talent.
The Geneva Park District is proud to join efforts with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce for the Geneva’s Got Talent event and a chance to win a cash prize. Auditions are May 26 at Sunset Community Center in Geneva. Semifinalists will perform June 20 during Swedish Days, with finalists vying for the grand prize June 23. The competition application and a complete list of rules are available at genevaparks.org. Competitors do not have to be Geneva residents.
