Batavia resident Rob Schmidt, 50, was at the Great Western Trail – Horlock Prairie in St. Charles Township when he answered questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?
Schmidt: Glendale Heights

Schory: Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Schmidt: Rob Lowe

Schory: First job?

Schmidt: I worked for School District 93 in Glendale Heights when I was a kid.

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Schmidt: A building designer and I kind of do that now. I am the facilities manager for Batavia Public Schools District 101.

Schory: Book or movie you would recommend?

Schmidt: “Caddyshack”

Schory: Favorite charity?
Schmidt: Vietnam Veterans of America

Schory: Favorite local restaurant?

Schmidt: Patten House in Geneva

Schory: What is an interesting fact about yourself?

Schmidt: I hiked up Grays Peak in Colorado, a 14,270-foot summit.
