Rose, a 2016 fifth-round pick of the Diamondbacks out of Toms River North High School in New Jersey, stumbled upon a rocky hitless streak to begin the season.
The 20-year-old started 0-for-21 with 15 strikeouts.
"This is my test right here," Rose said following an 0-for-3 with a walk performance against the Quad Cities River Bandits on Monday. "This is absolutely new for me," he said on the struggles at the plate
"It's tough, but at the end of the day, you always gotta play another game the next day. You gotta forget about it. That's what this whole game is: Forgetting about the past."
To Cougars hitting coach Rick Short, Rose's recent struggles are more about controlling the strike zone and pitch recognition – not his swing.
