Aveda salons have raised a total of $3.5 million during Aveda Earth Month for Alliance for the Great Lakes over 11 years, according to the Alliance’s website greatlakes.org; more information on how Alliance for the Great Lakes celebrates Aveda Earth Month can be found under the "Get Involved" tab.
Art and fashion will truly mix during Falese’s fashion show with artwork from several 116 Gallery artists including Lucy Slivinski.
“We will have sculptures from Lucy,” Falese said. “Her sculptures will be on the walls. They have lighting behind them. Some of her sculptures have sculptures in their head. She uses recycled material, and she is a perfect artist for this event. Niala from Niala Conte’s boutique will feature her high-end evening gowns. They have major detail, and there will also be more casual looks. Gina from Men’s Wearhouse is also helping with the fashion show.”
116 Gallery artists Laura Stoecker and Melinda Gordon will also have their work displayed from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Falese’s curator, Sharon Schmidt, has been helping to prepare for the fashion. Schmidt also works to collaborate and display artists' works throughout the year for Mixology Salon Spa. Every two months artwork from a new artist is on display at the salon, Falese said.
“We are currently booked out two years from now,” Falese said. “Sharon is my curator. She won Woman of Distinction in St. Charles last year. Every two months, we feature artwork from a new artist. It’s a big production. We feature all mediums.”
