Sycamore resident Omar Musfi was at his restaurant, Eden on the River in St. Charles, when he answered questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?

Musfi: Syria. I came here when I was 24.

Schory: First job?

Musfi: In music, as a percussionist.

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Musfi: Yes, I wanted to be a musician. Owning a restaurant was something I wanted to do, but always my target was music. I have a master’s degree in music.

Schory: Book or movie you would recommend?

Musfi: “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and the movie

Schory: Favorite charity?

Musfi: Syrian American Medical Society Foundation

Schory: Favorite ice cream flavor?

Musfi: Caramel

Schory: Favorite local restaurant?

Musfi: Eden on the River in St. Charles

Schory: What is an interesting fact about yourself?

Musfi: Through music, I played with a lot of big stars in the Middle East and here, like the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Sting and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles.
