GENEVA – A corner of culinary heaven is at South Third and James streets in downtown Geneva, where the expanding repertoire of French chef Alain Roby extends to afternoon tea in the restaurant Primo adjacent to his All Chocolate Kitchen.
Primo, an intimate, 35-seat boutique restaurant open select evenings for people 21 and older, is a confection unto itself with avant-garde design touches extending to a towering chocolate derrick whose colorful components are created from sugar.
In winter, Primo became the setting for afternoon teas that grew into a hit, making reservations a must and leading to a waiting list.
A multi-tier serving stand is adorned with sweet and savory recipes by the chef, ranging from French macaroons, fruit tartlets, cream puffs and petit fours to sandwiches of cucumber and mint; smoked salmon and dill; roast beef and horseradish; and egg and cheese atop freshly baked bread.
