That’s certainly saying something, as Phelps is the world’s most decorated Olympian with an unprecedented 23 gold medals. But he acknowledged that his dreams have always been more than becoming the greatest swimmer of all time.
“Yes I did have dreams in the pool, but also outside of the people,” he said. “There are so many things that I want to accomplish and still believe that I can do a lot more.
“Some of the struggles I’ve gone through personally, I know there are a lot of people going through the same exact thing. If we can all communicate and come together and open up and deal with these things head-on we can save a lot of lives and do it together.”
