A dominant two-sport athlete in football and baseball at Marmion, McPherson primarily visited college baseball camps in the past. He didn't get as much consideration, though – even if he outperformed someone else with more experience and exposure.
McPherson, a senior, threw for 1,738 yards and rushed for 324 yards with 28 combined touchdowns on the football field.
"I wouldn't be fine-tuned enough for their liking," said McPherson, a two-year starting varsity quarterback and three-year varsity pitcher. "So, they would move on to the next guy."
In some cases, colleges approached him after games to express interest, which would last for a week. Then, they dropped out of seemingly nowhere.
Internalizing the hyper-drive competitive spirit within himself, those types of instances simply lit the fire in McPherson to keep proving himself on and off whatever field he plays on.
