GENEVA – The Geneva Community Chest is hosting its second annual Donut Dash 5K at 8 a.m. July 14, starting at the Gunnar Anderson Forest Preserve behind the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva.
Participants can walk or run on the course along the Fox River trails, according to a news release.
The 5K is a chip-timed USATF certified event, the release stated.
The event also offers a 1-mile run for children ages 7 to 12 and a Munchkin Kids Fun Run for children under 6 that starts immediately after the 5K is completed, the release stated.
Strollers are welcome, but no pets are allowed.
Donuts from Dimples Donuts and Hahn’s Bakery will be available for all participants after the race. Also available will be coffee from Limestone Cafe, fresh fruit, gluten-free baked goods, water and energy drinks.
Registration costs $35 and is available online by visiting www.geneva5k.com. Registration includes a T-shirt.
Custom age awards will be given to overall male and female runners, first, second and third place.
Age divisions are 14 and under, 15-19, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and above.
The 1-mile youth run registration costs $15. The Munchkin Fun Run costs $10 or $15 with T-shirt.
Packet pickup will be from 2 to 7 p.m. July 12 at Geneva Running Outfitters, 221 W. State St., Geneva.
The event is sponsored by State Bank of Geneva and presented by the Geneva Community Chest, which raises money to distribute to more than 25 charities in the Fox Valley.
