Batavia police reports

Criminal charges filed

• Pablo Santiago Jr., 47, of the 700 block of East Wilson Street, Batavia, was charged June 27 with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving on a revoked or suspended license in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia.

• A fraudulent credit card application was reported June 27 in the 800 block of North Batavia Avenue, Batavia.

• A television valued at $2,000 was reported stolen June 27 at the Amcor company at 1300 S. River St., Batavia. The theft may have occurred June 24, according to the police report.

• Mark R. Baerwald, 55, of the 1200 block of East Wilson Street, Batavia, was charged June 27 with driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent and with driving under the influence of combined alcohol and drugs in the 100 block of East Wilson Street, Batavia.

• An air conditioner valued at $500 or less was reported stolen June 28 in the 200 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia.

• Telephone harassment was reported June 28 in the 1200 block of Kingsland Drive, Batavia.

• A telephone scam was reported as fraud June 28 in the 800 block of South Jefferson Street, Batavia.

• Timothy C. Audet, 23, of the 600 block of North River Street, Batavia, was charged June 29 with resisting or obstructing a police officer in the 600 block of North River Street, Batavia.

• Robert G. Byland, 24, of the 600 block of Ozier Drive, Batavia, was charged June 30 with falsely reporting a vehicle theft, leaving the scene of an accident, improper lane usage and driving in the wrong lane.

• A vehicle's rear passenger door on the driver's side was spray painted, causing an estimated $300 in damage, according to a June 30 report of criminal damage to property in the 500 block of Cypress Avenue, Batavia.

• An elderly Batavian gave a stranger her personal information over the telephone, which led to purchases amounting to $4,700 charged to the victim's credit card account at a national chain store location in Florida, according to a July 2 police report of fraud. Police assisted in having the victim's account credited for the full amount and the account closed, according to the report.

• Harassment by telephone was reported July 3 in the 2300 block of Hill Lane, Batavia.
