The community is invited to a Corn Boil that will kick off the sports season at Batavia High School with festivities from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17.

BATAVIA – The annual Corn Boil from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 will celebrate the official start of Batavia High School fall athletics and the marching band season at the school's baseball outfield.

The festivities will welcome community members of all ages for food, spirit wear and yard sign purchases, with performances planned by the BHS Marching Band, cheer teams and dance teams, a news release stated. Various sports practices will take place during the event in Bulldog Stadium.

People are asked to park in the Main or Wilson street lots and to walk behind the stadium visitor stands to the walkway leading to the baseball fields. There will be directional signs.

The menu will feature a hot dog or brat, ear of corn, chips, water or soft drink. There will be seating under tents for 200 people. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs in case seating becomes crowded.

The dinner costs $8 for adults, $7 for students, $4 for seniors age 65 and older, and $28 for a family of four, with $6 for each additional family member. One may purchase tickets online at bataviabulldogboosters.org or at the gate.
