CAMPTON HILLS – Police Sgt. Randy Johnson will be sworn in at the Aug. 8 Campton Hills Village Board meeting for his new position as deputy chief, officials announced in a news release.
Johnson has been serving as deputy chief since Chief Steve Millar appointed him July 22.
Johnson began his law enforcement career in 1986, and began working for the Campton Hills Police Department on Oct. 29, 2007. Johnson was promoted to the rank of sergeant on June 16, 2015.
As a sergeant, Johnson has been directly responsible for many duties including field training officer, computer maintenance, range officer, member of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team, instructor for the Too Good for Drugs program and juvenile officer.
“Johnson is highly respected by his subordinates, peers, the public and his supervisors,” Millar stated in the release. “We are very fortunate to have him in this position. Johnson’s experience and personal knowledge of the community and the department make him the perfect choice for this position. Johnson’s commitment to the village and to police work is a model for the department.”
