Girl, 11, followed by teen boy in Batavia

Police seek information about suspect

BATAVIA – An 11-year-old girl was approached by a high-school-aged boy who asked to touch her inappropriately, Batavia police reported in a news release.

The incident occurred at 10:33 a.m. Aug. 8 where the boy – described as 16 to 17 years old – followed the girl from Engstrom Park, 326 Millview Drive, to the intersection of Millview and Morton Street, the release stated.

While following the girl, the teen commented on her appearance and asked if he could touch her in an inappropriate way, the release stated.

Fearing for her safety, the girl ran from him and told her parents, the release stated.

The suspect was described as a white male with shaggy brown hair, wearing yellow shorts and a black Batavia Bulldogs T-shirt – clothing which is consistent with attire worn by Batavia High School students, the release stated.

The suspect continued southbound on Millview Drive after the girl ran from the area.

As Batavia police received no other complaints similar to this incident, they are asking anyone with information to contact police at 630-454-2500.
