ABOUT: Country music artist Chris Young (shown) will star on the riverside stage, followed at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 by Gladys Knight and The O'Jays. The Paramount also announced its theater will present the Happy Together Tour at 8 p.m. Aug. 17 at 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, featuring The Turtles (with Ron Dante of The Archies standing in for Howard Kaylan for health reasons), Chuck Negron (formerly of Three Dog Night), Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Association, Mark Lindsay (former lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders) and The Cowsills. Before Happy Together, people can attend Paramount Theatre’s 2018-19 Season Kick Off Party benefit with food, drinks and auctions from 5 to 7 p.m. in Paramount’s Meyer Ballroom, 8 E. Galena Blvd., directly across the street from the theater; tickets cost $25.

ABOUT: The St. Charles Public Library presents an exhibit by South Elgin residents James and Nanette Stephens, highlighting their award-winning landscape, wildlife, nature and architectural photography. His photographic experience began at age 10 and continued throughout his adult life and photo business career. She began her amateur photography career taking photos alongside her husband, advancing her skills with photography classes. Both are members of the St. Charles Arts Council.

ABOUT: The conflict between the established artist and the fan who becomes a protégé, disciple, colleague and friend – and finally, threatening rival – resurfaces in Donald Margulies's provocative play, "Collected Stories," which confronts the prominent short-story writer Ruth Steiner with her student-turned-confidante-turned-competitor Lisa Morrison. The show, described as funny and fascinating, features Steel Beam Theatre regular Crystal Skipworth and SBT Artistic Director Marge Uhlarik-Boller. It is directed by Larry Boller.
