BATAVIA – After the summer display of the Bulldogs Unleashed sculptures in downtown Batavia comes to a close, a live benefit auction of 15 of the canines is planned Sept. 15 at Shannon Hall in Batavia.
The 30-inch fiberglass dogs, all painted by local artists and seal-coated by Batavia-based Boyce Body Werks, are ready for year-round outdoor or indoor display, a news release stated.
Tickets for the live auction festivities are available at bulldogsunleashed.org. The dogs up for auction can be viewed at bulldogsunleashed.org/auction-event. The $65 ticket price includes open bar, live entertainment and locally catered food and desserts from Fernando’s Street Kitchen, Enticing Cuisine, Team FIB BBQ Caterers and Auntie Vee’s.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to three charity partners: Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence, Batavia Parks Foundation and the Batavia Public Library Foundation.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for previewing the bulldogs at 14 N. Van Buren St. Food and beverages will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the auction will start at 8 p.m.
People still can view all the dogs on display across Batavia by using the city's map at bit.ly/BulldogsUN or by picking up a printed map at City Hall or from the charity partners.
Ten, 17-inch, tabletop-size foster dog sculptures, which will be raffled at the auction, are on display at the following businesses: K. Hollis Jewelers, Funway, Batavia Family Dental, Chapters Coffee House, Beardsgaard Barbers, Urban Style Salon and Spa, All Spoked Up, J DeCarlo Salon and Spa, Kiss The Sky and The Tea Tree.
