Kane County offers CodeRED alert service

Speedy emergency contact delivered by telephone

Kane County offers the CodeRED Emergency Telephone Notification System, a high-speed telephone communications service for emergency notifications.

The system allows county officials to telephone targeted areas of a municipality or the entire county in case an emergency situation requires immediate action such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices, a news release stated.

CodeRED is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers a recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

The system allows everyone within Kane County to update their residential or business information, including cellular telephone numbers, to be included in the call notifications.

People who have an unlisted telephone number or want to receive notifications via their cellular telephone can enter that telephone number into the database by signing up at public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/4C404BCEEE89.
