GENEVA – The court date for a Geneva man charged with four counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct in connection with sending derogatory statements in the mail, was continued to Oct. 9 from Sept. 5, according to court records.

Anton L. Purkart, 50, was charged July 13 with knowingly sending anonymous derogatory statements to several individuals “in such an unreasonable manner as to alarm and disturb … and provoke a breach of the peace,” according to the charging documents.

Letters attributed to Purkart targeted Hispanics, women and a gay man according to police reports.
