League hosts candidate forum

3 of 4 hopefuls to attend

AURORA – Incumbent U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, and Republican challenger Nick Stella of Darien both have agreed to attend a candidates forum hosted by League of Women Voters of Central Kane County at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Aurora University’s Crimi Auditorium, 1347 Prairie St., Aurora.

Foster and Stella are battling to represent District 11 in the Nov. 6 congressional election.

There will be a meet and greet with the candidates after the forum.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Plano, told the league he will not attend, Patti Lackman of the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County said.

His Democratic challenger in the 14th Congressional District, Lauren Underwood of Naperville, will only be able to give a three-minute introduction and participate in the meet and greet, Lackman said.

Federal Election Commission rules will not allow one candidate to take questions from voters if the other candidate is not present, Lackman said.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, issue-oriented organization that never endorses candidates.
