Crash claims life of Hampshire woman

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP – A weekend car crash in unincorporated Burlington Township has resulted in the death of a Hampshire woman.

Police say Cindy Fromas, 57, was traveling westbound on Plank Rd near Romke Road at about 1 a.m. October 7, when, for an unknown reason, a Ford Fusion driven by Kyle Luebke, 28, of DeKalb, rear-ended the Ford causing it to strike a utility pole.  Fromas was pronounced deceased at the scene, and Luebke was transported to an Elgin area hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Sheriff’s Deputies and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.  No citation(s) have been issued at this time and detectives are still trying to determine if drugs, alcohol, texting or excessive speed were involved in this crash.
