ST. CHARLES – A St. Charles man faces charges of allegedly stealing up to $10,000 from an elderly couple he knew in 2016.

William J. Petrocelli Jr., 56, of the 200 block of Fairhaven Drive, was charged in November, according to court records. His next court date is set for Dec. 6.

Petrocelli is charged with two counts of financial exploitation of an elderly person. According to court records, in September 2016, he "knowingly and by deception" obtained control over their savings accounts and allegedly stole up to $5,000 from the savings accounts of each victim. Court records stated that he was "standing in a position of trust and confidence" with each victim.

Bail for Petrocelli was set at $10,000 but he was released on his personal recognizance. He has been ordered not to have any contact with the two victims.
