Utility projects may briefly close parts of Fox River Trail Jan. 21 through Mar. 1

GENEVA- Sections of the Fox River Trail may be intermittently closed from Jan. 21 to Mar. 1 as ComEd works to repair overhead power lines and utility poles.

The work will be along the Fox River Trail at Tekakwitha and the bridge across the Fox River, leading to Jon Duerr Forest Preserve. Work will also continue along the Fox River Trail in South Elgin, along the bike trail, from the bridge over the Fox to Stearns Road. The nearest road crossings are Villa Marie Road to the south and Stearns Road to the north.

The Forest Preserve District asks trail users to be mindful of the projects, heavy machinery being used, and of the possibility of intermittent closures during the time frames. Signs on both ends of the project will alert trail users to each project.
