ST. CHARLES – State Sen. Donald P. DeWitte, R-St. Charles, was appointed as the Republican lead on the Senate Transportation Committee where he will serve as the Minority Spokesperson, his office announced in a news release.

In addition to making policy decisions relating to transportation infrastructure and safety, the Transportation Committee oversees state transportation concerns pertaining to rules, regulations and licensure matters.

“Illinois is one of the largest transportation hubs in the country — encompassing miles of interstates, bridges, rails and waterways,” DeWitte stated in the release. “Having served on the Regional Transportation Authority for the past five years, I look forward to bringing my experience and knowledge to the table and working with my colleagues through some of the state’s most pressing transportation issues.”

DeWitte was also appointed to serve as the Minority Spokesperson for the Senate Government Accountability and Pensions Committee, and will serve as a member of the Education, Local Government, Revenue, Appropriations II, and Telecommunications & Info Technology committees, the release stated.
