Roberts was huge, scoring nine of her 12 in the second quarter – rattling in a buzzer-beating 3-pointer for a 21-14 halftime lead.
"We all picked up each other," Sarah Ness said. "We practiced and preached all year for everyone to be able to run every position on offense and defense."
The Indians also were relentless on the offensive glass, with 14 offensive rebounds. Josie Ness had three of them, rebounding a missed free throw from her sister in the final seconds to clinch things.
"I knew I wasn't hitting my outside shots, so I had to rebound," Josie Ness said. "We saw that they crashed the boards the other night. We said if we wanted to win, we had to do the same."
Kaneland, despite replacing all five starters this season, couldn't feel too terribly about how the year turned out.
"We don't like the term rebuilding," Colombe said, "but everyone said it would be a rebuilding year. We were right there with [Sandwich], with a young team. Proud of their effort."
