ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – Two Kane County jail inmates who refused to lock down after their recreation time on Feb. 25 attacked two corrections officers who tried to escort them back to their cells, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office stated in an email.

Two inmates were outside their cells and refused corrections officers’ commands to go back to their cells, the email stated.

As officers attempted to escort one of the inmates to his cell he attacked one of the officers.

The second inmate then attacked another officer.

Eventually both inmates were handcuffed and taken to individual cells, the email stated.

As a result, the Corrections Response Team with assistance from the Kendall County Corrections Response Team conducted a shakedown of the cellblock, but no contraband was found.

In total, three officers received medical treatment, with two of them being taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

All three are expected to be OK and the two at Delnor have already returned to the facility.

The case is under investigation and there are no charges at this time.

Both inmates involved did not require medical attention.
