ST. CHARLES – A 35-year-old St. Charles man faces criminal charges for allegedly punching a 70-year-old man in the face during an argument, causing the victim to fall and break his hip.

Brandon F. Bruhn, of the 1900 block of Moore Avenue, has been charged with aggravated battery along with battery. A Kane County judge set Bruhn’s bail at $25,000 with 10 percent ($2,500) to apply for bond, and set Bruhn’s next court appearance for 9 a.m. March 8 in front of Kane County Circuit Judge John Barsanti in Courtroom 319 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Kane County prosecutors and the St. Charles police allege that at about noon on March 1, Bruhn and the victim exchanged angry words while in the parking lot of a business in the 600 block of Geneva Road, St. Charles.

Bruhn then punched the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground and causing the victim to fracture his hip and causing a laceration to the victim’s face, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Bruhn posted the $2,500 bond and was released from the Kane County Jail. As a condition of bond, he is to have no contact with the victim and the victim’s spouse, the release stated.
