BATAVIA – A community remembrance in memory of Muslims killed in mass shootings at two New Zealand mosques will be held at an interfaith prayer service at 1:30 p.m. March 22 on the west lawn of Calvary Episcopal Church of Batavia.

The purpose of area vigils this week has been to stand in solidarity against terrorism and hatred against religious or other minorities.
Fifty people were killed March 15 when a gunman in New Zealand opened fire in two mosques during worship. The gunman, who has been arrested, was described as a white supremacist who was in contact with far-right organizations, according to news reports.
