Construction is set to begin the week of April 1 on the multi-use path along the west side of Kirk Road from Pine Street to Mesa Lane in Batavia, resulting in possible single lane road closures of southbound Kirk Road.
Construction work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the work expecting to take two months to complete, according to a news release from the Kane County Department of Transportation.
The work will include setting up erosion and traffic controls, tree trimming, earth work, asphalt removal, placement of stone and asphalt and restoration of the parkway.
Motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert, and must watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
Drivers should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, and may want to consider using alternate routes while this work is being completed.
