Erickson picked up a strikeout to get out of the first inning, a theme that led her and the Knights to a 6-2, five-inning victory Monday afternoon in nonconference action that was called due to lightning.
While Oswego East didn’t pick up its first hit until Erickson’s third and final inning in the circle, two walks and a hit by pitch gave the Wolves an early rally in the first. Her second strikeout of the inning – of her four total Monday afternoon – gave Kaneland some more momentum coming back into the dugout.
“I just had to stick with it,” Erickson said. “I knew I just had to hit my spots and keep the ball where it needed to go. There were a few pitches that were up [in the zone]. I think that [strikeout to end the first inning] settled me down a little bit.”
