Batavia police report 2 robberies at apartment building

BATAVIA – Batavia police are reporting two robberies on June 10 and 11 at an apartment building in the 1200 block of E. Wilson Street.

In the first robbery, which occured at 8 p.m. June 10, the victim told police that two males approached them in the building's common area and demanded money. The victim reportedly was wearing a piece of jewelry which was removed by the suspects. The victim was not injured, and the jewelry was recovered at the scene. The offenders were described as black males between 23 and 28 years old.

Police report that on June 11, a uniformed officer was stopped at the same apartment building by the citizen in the previous incident who reported a similar robbery around 12:45 p.m. that day. The victim reportedly was stopped in the stairwell by two black male suspects who grabbed the victim and removed money from their pocket. One suspect was described as 5'10 and 150 pounds and the other was described as 5'6 and 140 pounds. The victim was not injured.

Police do not yet know if the alleged suspects were the same in both incidents. Police report that the victim was threatened, but did not see any weapons.
