ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Police Department issued several tickets for speeding, distracted driving and other offenses during a recent traffic enforcement campaign.

The department conducted additional traffic enforcement from June 17 to July 8. The campaign reminded motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort.

The department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway deaths by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers. During the 22 day mobilization, the department issued:

• 4 front seat belt citations

•  1 uninsured motorist citation

•  3 speeding citations

• 3 distracted driving citations

• 7 citations for other violations
