BATAVIA – The Kiwanis Club of Batavia awarded $3,500 in scholarships to three 2019 Batavia High School Key Club members in July.

According to a news release from the Batavia Kiwanis Club, recipients Samantha Musielak, Natalie Bock and William Huber all displayed exemplary leadership while serving their community through their years with BHS Key Club.

Key Club International is the oldest and largest student-led service program for high school students. According to the release, Batavia High School’s Key Club hosts over 200 members each year, making it one of the strongest youth service organizations in the area.

Kiwanis Club of Batavia raises money to support the Sponsored Leadership Programs at each of the BPS101 Schools, including Key Club at Batavia High School, Builders Club at Rotolo Middle School and K-Kids at each of the six elementary schools in the district. A portion of those funds go to support the Kiwanis of Batavia Foundation Scholarships, which are $1,000 each. The $1,500 Phyllis Mary Cassidy Community Builder Award is also awarded annually, and this year went to Natalie Bock.

The Kiwanis Club of Batavia meets twice monthly on the second Tuesday of each month at Andre’s Restaurant from noon to 1 p.m. and the third Tuesday of each month at the downtown Batavia Panera from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
