ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Fire Department will conduct water main flushing on Wednesday and Thursday.
The fire department will conduct water main flushing from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Anthony Place, 1905 Althea Lane (Randall Road and Route 38.) In addition, it will conduct water main flushing between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday in the parking garage at 50 S. 1st St in downtown St. Charles.
Residents living in the areas where the water main flushing will occur may experience rust in the water during or immediately after the testing procedure. Although the water is safe, residents may want to refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear.
In the event rusty water discolors clothes while being laundered, residents should be sure to keep the clothing wet and contact the Public Works Department at 630-377-4405 to request a rust-removing solution packet. It is advised that drivers use caution in driving through areas being flushed because of water that may be on the pavement.
