CASA hosts annual fall conference

Guest speaker to present, 'Bridges Out of Poverty'

GENEVA – CASA Kane County will host its Fall Educational Conference on Sept. 6 in the Meyers Ballroom at the Paramount Theater, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, the agency announced in a news release.

Jodi Pfarr will present on “Bridges Out of Poverty.”

Pfarr was a certified critical debriefer – a technique to assist others in dealing with physical or psychological symptoms associated with trauma – as well as a chaplain with the St. Paul Police Department. Pfarr also served as executive director of Emma Norton Services in Minnesota, providing housing to single women with issues around low income, mental illness, and/or chemical dependency.

Social service providers, community members and CASA/GAL volunteers who attend will learn valuable key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty.

CASA Kane County's 250 active CASA/GAL volunteers advocate for more than 500 children annually. It serves all the abuse, neglect and private guardianship cases in the 16th Circuit in Kane County since 2002.

To register, call Lindsey Herdrich at 630-444-1307 or via email at lindseyh@casakanecounty.org.

Conference sponsors are the Kane County Regional Office of Education; Inc Board, NFP; West Aurora School District 129; and the city of Aurora.
