Geneva History Museum to throw benefit barbecue party

GENEVA – The fifth annual “BBQ at the Museum” will raise funds for the Geneva History Museum, which invites the community to attend the lively event from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 12.

Guests can enjoy an evening under a lighted canopy north of the museum building with a buffet dinner, beer, wine, music, silent auction, wine pull, and a jewelry heist sponsored by State Street Jewelers. The cash bar offers cocktails, wine and beer sponsored by Fox River Distilling Company, The Patten House and Stockholm’s brew pub, a news release stated.

Rare video oral histories from the museum’s archives will be displayed on a 10-foot screen throughout the evening. The museum will be open so participants can explore the Kane County juried art exhibition of over 30 pieces celebrating the county’s cultural heritage, as well as the main gallery, telling “Geneva’s Story” with rare artifacts and personal stories.

Limited space is available and reservations cost $60 per person, $50 for museum members. All proceeds benefit the Geneva History Museum, a nonprofit organization at 113 S. Third St., with a mission to preserve and share Geneva’s story while inspiring and engaging the community.

The benefit event is for adults 21 years of age and older. For more information, visit genevahistorymuseum.org or call 630-232-4951.
