Batavia church to host presentation about opioid use in Kane County

Sheriff Hain to speak at Sept. 19 event

BATAVIA – The Congregational Church of Batavia will host a presentation about opioid use and related deaths in Kane County from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19. The church is located at 21 S. Batavia Ave. The event is open to the public.

Nate Lanthrum, clinical director of Lighthouse Recovery and certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor, will be the presenter. His background includes more than 15 years of counseling high-risk adolescent and adult clients in both the criminal justice system and private substance abuse treatment.áKane County Sheriff Ron Hain is also scheduled to speak at the event.

The presentation will include information about the prevalence of opioid use in Kane County, the risks of using opioids and successful treatment modalities that restore the person to a functional life.
