Kale training provides more than physical fitness

If you’re looking to improve your overall athletic ability, sports game or general health, Kale Training is the place to be.

Whether you’re hoping to improve speed, agility, flexibility, strength, power or all of the above, Kale Training owner Kale Hoyt can help you meet your sports performance goals.

Hoyt, a certified strength and conditioning and performance enhancement specialist, works with individuals and teams at all levels starting at age 7, within 6,000 square feet of space inside Sportsplex, a St. Charles Park District facility.

After a free evaluation, Hoyt will design a program customized for each athlete’s goals using various exercise equipment from resistance bands and power blocks to medicine balls and free weights, plus a dedicated turf area and 30 yards of track.

No matter what the goal, the program is customized to deliver results for each athlete. But Hoyt never loses sight of the big picture.

“Just as important as improving overall athletic ability is training each athlete as a whole, and helping improve their confidence in the game and in their abilities,” Hoyt said.

He accomplishes this through positive encouragement. “The program is designed to build up each and every athlete to become the best possible person they can be -- on and off their field of play,” he said. “Sportsplex is family oriented, and I see my business the same way.”

Assistant Superintendent of Sportsplex Melissa Caine has seen his training first-hand. “Kale’s a motivator and makes every athlete work hard, but he has a calm and encouraging demeanor. He makes training a positive experience, so athletes want to come back for more.”

In addition to individual and team sports performance improvement, Kale Training also offers adult fitness sessions for all abilities, including full body circuit training. One-on-one sessions are also available.

Additionally, Kale Training provides personalized written workouts for adults to perform at the facility independently. This is a result of a free evaluation and discussion of goals with a strength and conditioning coach. Trainers are present to support and answer questions.

Hoyt has been running the business out of Sportsplex for 10 years, prior to the Park District purchasing the facility in 2018. He holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and has more than 15 years of experience, including training athletes from major and minor league baseball and major league soccer.
