GENEVA – Members of the Geneva Park District Board, including current commissioners Susan VanderVeen, John Frankenthal and Pat Lenski, and past commissioner Peggy Condon, who served from 1999 through 2019, received service awards at the annual Illinois Association of Park Districts Best of the Best Gala Nov. 1 at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling.

The Geneva Park District nominated the four commissioners based on their years of service to the Geneva Park District and to the community, according to a news release.

All combined, they have volunteered over 60 years of dedicated service to the Geneva Park District, Executive Director Sheavoun Lambillotte stated in the release.

“They have been steadfast in their support of parks, recreation, open space and conservation,” Lambillotte stated in the release. “It is my good fortune to work with such dedicated community leaders.”

Peggy Condon and Susan VanderVeen – who is the board president – received the 20 Year Board Member Service Anniversary Award, and John Frankenthal and Pat Lenski received the 10 Year Board Member Service Anniversary Award.

“Geneva is such a special place to live. It has been my pleasure to serve on the Geneva Park Board for 20 years,” VanderVeen stated in the release. “It is an honor to be a part of the Geneva Park District’s effort to provide healthy and fun recreation to all Geneva’s residents.”
