VIRGIL TOWNSHIP – The Kane County Sheriff's Department has named the man injured in an accident Saturday morning as Will Wright, 22, of either DeKalb or Sycamore. Officers are still working to get an exact address, a news release from the sheriff's department stated.

Wright was airlifted to a Rockford hospital with life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision with a semi near the intersection of Route 38 and Watson Road in Virgil Township.

According to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Department, a Honda driven by Wright was heading east on Route 38 when it crossed the center line around 5:25 a.m., and was hit by a Freightliner semi, driven by George Grant, 46, of Montgomery. Wright was the only person in the Honda, and was flown by helicopter to St. Anthony's Hospital. Grant was not hurt.

The Kane County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the cause of the accident, and it's not clear if alcohol, drugs or distracted driving played a role. No citations have been issued.

Route 38 between Watson Road and Meredith Road is open now, but had been closed for several hours.
