New: Late-night fire damages manufacturing business

ST. CHARLES – A fire at Sun Chemical's manufacturing facility late Wednesday night caused $200,000 in damage, the St. Charles Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a fire in the warehouse. When firefighters arrived, they found a fire high-rack storage units in the warehouse.

A sprinkler system activated near the fire and "was keeping it in check," the fire department said in a written statement.

No one was injured.

St. Charles firefighters were assisted by crews from Geneva, Batavia and Elburn, as well as a hazardous materials team.
