Hastert to join company in 'strategic adviser' role
By the KANE COUNTY CHRONICLE

GENEVA – Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert has signed on as a “strategic adviser” at a Naperville company that designs low-energy lighting and medical information technology.
Goeken Group Corp. is headed by Jack Goeken, founder of MCI and other companies.
Goeken spokesman Jeff Boone said Hastert would be “opening doors for our innovative lighting” and other products.
“The Speaker brings extensive experience, knowledge and passion to the company,” said Carl Scianna, president and CEO of one of Goeken’s subsidiaries, in a written statement.
“Jack Goeken and Carl Scianna identified two major issues facing Americans today: the rising cost of electricity and health care,” Hastert said in a statement sent by the corporation. “Together, they have developed cost-saving products and services to address these issues in both areas. This type of innovation is the reason I joined the company.”
Goeken Group Corp. comprises four subsidiary companies. One designs environmentally friendly lighting. Another makes Personal Guardian, a hand-held device that lets a person call for help in an emergency.
The corporation also includes Global MED-NET International, which stores and forwards a person’s electronic medical profile to doctors.
Campaign finance disclosure records from the Federal Elections Commission show that Jack Goeken and Sandra Goeken-Miles gave a combined $5,600 to Hastert’s campaigns between 2000 and 2006. The records identify both Goeken and Goeken-Miles as working for Goeken Group Corp.
Sandra Goeken-Miles is identified as an officer of Goeken Group Corp. in the statement sent Thursday by the corporation.
