South Elgin Parks: Klub Friday Night IDs available

Come to Village Hall on Aug. 23 or 25 from 10am-Noon to get your Klub Friday Night ID for the 08-09 events. The cost is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

Residents are strongly encouraged to purchase an ID for safety reasons. The cost at the door for the events will be $5 per night with an ID and $20 per night without an ID. After these dates, IDs will be sold Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Village Hall. Call 847-622-0003 for additional information.

Kreative Kreations Design a Brownie or Junior Doll

Each girl will stuff an adorable doll, receive a star to make a wish and design a special birth certificate. You will be able to choose your outfit and design a piece of jewelry to make your new doll complete. This class is open to 6- to 12-year-olds and will be held at the Pottawatomie Community Center on Aug. 19 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The cost is $43 for residents and $48 for non-residents. The registration deadline is Aug. 12.

Zumba

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music with dance/fitness movements, creating a dynamic, exciting, and effective aerobic workout. Routines feature aerobic interval training with combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba is an all-over-body workout with emphasis on the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle of the body … the heart. This is dance fitness with the emphasis on fitness, not complicated choreography. The next session begins Aug. 21 at the Municipal Annex from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. The cost is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents.

Kickboxing

This class is designed for all fitness levels and abilities. This workout combines calisthenics, pad drills and conditioning to challenge your strength, cardiovascular, endurance, and flexibility. The next session begins on Aug. 18 at the Municipal Annex. Classes will be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The cost is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents.  

Boot Camp

Are you looking for a challenging total body workout? This easy-to-follow workout consists of alternating aerobic intervals of running, polymeric, jump rope, kickboxing, and athletic drills with strengthening intervals. The next session begins Aug. 16 at the Municipal Annex from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The cost is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents.  

Strength, Core & Stability

This workout combines traditional strength training through the use of dumbbells, weighted bars, or your own body weight with specific core training. The next session begins Aug. 20 from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at the Municipal Annex. The cost is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents.

Free Blood Pressure Check

High blood pressure can take years off your life and can cause a stroke, heart attack, kidney failure, or lead to coronary artery disease. Having your blood pressure checked regularly can alert you to problems. Come out and have your blood pressure checked for no charge. The next blood pressure check will be held Aug. 14 at the Municipal Annex from 10 to 11 a.m.

Bingo with a Bonus

Come join us for a free &andfun afternoon of Bingo with a Bonus guest speaker. There will be 45 minutes of bingo, 30 minutes with a guest speaker, followed by another 45 minutes of bingo. The next session will be held Aug. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at River Crossing, 10 N. Gilbert St, South Elgin. The guest speaker will be Bryan Pottow from seasons Hospice and Palliative Care. The event is for anyone 55 and older.
