ST. CHARLES – A 51-year-old St. Charles man has been charged with battery after police said he bit his wife on the wrist in a dispute about a dog.
Donald C. Paul, 51, of the 0-100 block of North 12th Street, St. Charles, was arrested at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday after a reported domestic argument in a minivan parked in the 1100 block of Dean Street.
He was being held at the Kane County Jail Thursday afternoon pending a bond call today.
The two were arguing over which one of them would care for a dog, St. Charles police spokesman Paul McCurtain said.
“He allegedly bit his wife on the left wrist in an attempt to get the dog from her,” McCurtain said.
The woman did not require hospitalization, McCurtain said.
During the argument, police said, Paul also grabbed a cell phone from her and threw it down on the ground when she tried to call for help.
He has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery along with one felony count of aggravated battery in a public way.
Paul has also been charged with armed violence, a Class X felony, after police found a switchblade knife in his possession.
“He was in possession of a deadly weapon during the time he was committing a felony,” McCurtain said.
