History center tour focuses on 'eccentrics' of Geneva

By Chronicle Staff

GENEVA – The Geneva History Center is offering a new guided walking tour of the downtown, "Eccentric Geneva," at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16.

Participants should meet at the center, 113 S. Third St. The tour will focus on stories of unusual Geneva men and women who once worked and lived in the community's historic downtown.

Tour highlights include an Irish immigrant with a keen wit and a mysterious past, a con artist who posed as a clairvoyant and medium, a globe trotting adventurer and a shameless promoter.

The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for members and children, with all proceeds to benefit the Geneva History Center.

Developed in partnership with the Geneva Historic Homes group, the tour lasts about an hour.

More information is available by calling 630-232-4951 or on the Web site at www.genevahistorycenter.org.
