PREP ROUNDUP: Central soccer takes conference

RICHMOND – Burlington Central midfielder Christopher Gousios split two Richmond-Burton defenders at the half line and found Alejandro Nava on a breakaway.
Moments later, Nava returned the favor to fellow forward Alexis Camarena on a give-and-go goal.
BC left little doubt in the first 15 minutes of Wednesday's, 3-1, Big Northern Conference victory at Richmond-Burton, though the Rockets still have one thing they're unsure about.
"No matter what, we're conference champs," Central coach Mike Gecan said. "The question now is whether it's shared."
Central (14-5-2, 8-1-1 BNC) would get the nod if the title comes down to head-to-head results against two-time reigning league champ Harvard. Central played the Hornets to a scoreless tie in Burlington earlier this season before securing a 1-0 victory on the road.
The title is the Rockets' second in five seasons under Gecan and third overall, but the coach said there has not been a tie atop the conference in his tenure. Gecan said he plans to consult athletic director Dan Cliffe about the matter today.
Batavia 4, Yorkville 0: At Yorkville, the Bulldogs registered a Western Sun Conference shutout for the second time this week, adding to Monday's 2-0 win against DeKalb.
Oswego East 7, Kaneland 0: At Oswego, the Knights fell behind, 4-0, at halftime and were unable to recover. Kaneland fell to 7-13-1.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Rosary 2, Wheaton Academy 0 (25-17, 25-21): At Aurora, Amelia Wegman (seven kills) and Emily Weber (five) paced a balanced attack for the Royals (16-16, 3-5 Suburban Catholic Conference). Lindsay Juriga added 15 assists for Rosary.
Aurora Christian 2, Walther Lutheran 0 (25-15, 25-15): At Aurora, the Eagles improved to 12-13-1 with the non-conference sweep.
