Elburn man charged with sex abuse

ST. CHARLES - An Elburn man remained in jail this morning, charged with sexual abuse.
Christopher Runde, 24, of the 500 block of Maple Avenue, was arrested Wednesday in connection with an underage drinking party Oct. 30, Police Chief Steven Smith said this morning.
Through the investigation of that party, officers discovered that Runde fondled a 19-year-old girl who was unconscious, Smith said.
Runde's bail is set at $25,000. He faces one count of sexual abuse.
Smith said officers were called the night of Oct. 30 to the 200 block of Conley Drive in Elburn in response to a report of a fight. When police arrived, they did not find a fight, but instead found a party with underage drinking.
As officers questioned the partygoers in the home - who were mostly between age 18 and early 20s - they received the report that Runde fondled a girl that was asleep or passed out, Smith said.
About 15 people were charged with misdemeanors at the party, either for underage drinking or for providing alcohol to minors, Smith said.
The owners of the home were not home and did not know about the party, he added.
