Grief counselors available following death of GHS student
By The Chronicle

GENEVA – Grief counselors were provided at Geneva High School Friday afternoon following news of the death of freshman student Michael Kimmer, officials said.
Students were offered support since Monday, when Kimmer was in critical condition. A crisis team has been meeting with those in need of emotional support. Details of the cause of his death were not available.
A counselor from Suicide Prevention Services in Batavia met with all faculty and provided them with a protocol to respond to the situation, officials said. Students were also encouraged to go to the counseling and advising office during the day.
In an e-mail to high school families, district officials asked that they "refrain from rumors, gossip, and speculation related to this tragic event as it is extremely hurtful to the student and his family."
Support to students and staff will continue next week with assistance from Suicide Prevention Services. A resource list will be provided for families that need additional assistance.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
